Episode Details

Original tape date: June 18, 2018.

First aired: July 2, 2018.

Drivers of traditional yellow taxis in New York City are struggling against a ferocious challenge from Uber, Lyft and other app-based services. With more and more cars on the street, congestion, especially in Manhattan, is often unbearable. Is congestion pricing becoming inevitable? And what about the subways and buses? Service is often terrible, but how do you raise the billions of dollars necessary to make it first-rate? Bob talks about these issues with Matthew Daus, a lawyer and former New York City Taxi and Limousine commissioner; a former president of the International Association of Transportation Regulators; and now the technology chair of the Transportation Research Center at CUNY.
