Alessandro Nivola

Bio

Alessandro Nivola earned a Drama Desk nomination for his first performance on the New York stage in the Roundabout’s 1995 production of A Month In The Country opposite Helen Mirren. Since then he has starred in many films including Lisa Cholodenko’s Laurel Canyon (Independent Spirit Award nom), Coco Before Chanel, Junebug, Ginger and Rosa, Mansfield Park, Kenneth Branagh’s Love's Labour's Lost, Best Laid Plans, and Face/Off among many others. In 2009 he was given the Excellence in Acting Award at the Provincetown International Film Festival. He has continued to return to the theater, starring in Ethan Hawke’s 2011 revival of A Lie of the Mind at the New Group, and playing Orlando opposite Gwyneth Paltrow’s Rosalind in As You Like It at Williamstown. Most recently he starred opposite Bradley Cooper in the Williamstown production of The Elephant Man. His upcoming films include Atom Egoyan’s Devil's Knot opposite Reese Witherspoon which will premiere at the 2013 Toronto Film Festival, and David O. Russell’s American Hustle which is set for a December release. Mr. Nivola graduated from Yale University with a BA in English.
