Alfred F. Kelly, Jr. is President and Chief Executive Officer of the NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Company, the entity created by the owners of the New York Jets and the New York Giants to raise the necessary funds and partner with the NFL to plan and stage the game and events associated with it, and to work with business leaders and public officials to maximize its positive economic impact.

With his team, Mr. Kelly is overseeing all host activities leading up to Super Bowl XLVIII, history’s first outdoor, cold-weather Super Bowl, which will be held on February 2, 2014, at the home stadium of both the Giants and Jets, MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. The game is projected to generate some $550 million in regional economic activity.

Mr. Kelly, 54, was appointed in April 2011 after a distinguished business career, the last 23 years of which were spent at the American Express Company. Most recently, he was President of the financial services giant from 2007 to 2010, leading the global consumer businesses, worldwide servicing, and enterprise wide risk management. Before joining American Express, Mr. Kelly held senior positions in government and private industry. He was head of Information Systems at the White House from 1985 to 1987. From 1981 to 1985, he held positions at PepsiCo in Information Systems and Strategic and Financial Planning.

Mr. Kelly has been honored many times for his achievements in business and philanthropy. He has received the White House Distinguished Service Award; the Boston College Presidential Medal; the Catholic Youth Organization Gold Medal Award; the Meadowlands Area YMCA Respect Award; the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Breath of Life Award; the New York Downtown Hospital Corporate Leadership Award; the Distinguished Graduate Award of The Department of Elementary Schools of the National Catholic Education Association; Iona College’s William B. Cornelia Founder’s Award and its Board of Trustees Award. During his years at AMEX, he was recognized as one of the Credit Card Industry’s Leaders of the Year, as one of the “10 For the Future” in U.S. financial services by American Banker and was for 10 consecutive years among Irish America magazine’s Business 100.

Mr. Kelly is a member of the Boards of Directors of MetLife, Inc. and Affinion Group, the Boards of Trustees of New York-Presbyterian Hospital, St. Joseph’s Seminary and College, and the New York Catholic Foundation. He serves as Chair of the Board for the School of the Holy Child in Rye, N.Y. and sits on the Archdiocese of New York Finance Council. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and has served for the past 22 years as a chairman of the Wall Street Charity Golf Classic, a major fundraiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. He was for 13 years a trustee of Iona College and was chairman of its Development Committee. A founding member of the Alumni Association of the Iona Preparatory School in New Rochelle, N.Y., he served as its first president and, in later years, as chairman of its board.

He received a BA (Summa Cum Laude) and an MBA with Honors from Iona College. Mr. Kelly resides with his wife, Peggy, in New York’s Westchester County. They have five children.
