Andy Humm has been the host or co-host of Gay USA (or its predecessor on the Gay Cable Network, Pride and Progress) since 1985. Since 1996, he has hosted the show with veteran journalist and activist Ann Northrop. Since September 2001, it has appeared on Manhattan Neighborhood Network, a weekly review of local, national, and international news and entertainment stories of concern to the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered communities. Gay USA also covers news about the AIDS pandemic and other LGBT health news each week.
For five seasons, Andy hosted WNET-TV’s Informed Sources (1991-95), a weekly prime-time public affairs roundtable about metropolitan issues. At WNET, he has also hosted segments of the Live Wire and Thirteen Live public affairs programs, and the national PBS special, Out in America. In 1997, he co-hosted Out in New York with comedian Kate Clinton. He is currently a regular contributor to PBS’s In the Life gay newsmagazine.
From 1979-84, Andy hosted Self-Help on WBAI-FM radio, a weekly interview with leaders of mutual self-help groups.
