Elizabeth Swados

Bio
Elizabeth Swados is a writer, composer and director who has been working in the professional theater for over twenty-five years. She has been nominated for Tony, Drama Desk, Ace and Emmy awards, and has won several Obies, Outer Critic’s Circle Awards, a PEN Citation, and an Anne Frank National Foundation for Jewish Culture award.
She has created nearly fifty musical theater pieces and hundreds of songs, music for movies, and TV, novels, non-fiction and several children’s books. Her new children’s book, “Hey, You Come Here” published by Scholastic, hit shelves in 2002.
Recent projects include a musical for the Alley Theater in Texas and “Jewish Girls” at the Jewish Community Center in Manhattan. She is currently teaching at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.
