Michael Daly is a correspondent with Newsweek/The Daily Beast. He was previously a columnist with the New York Daily News and a staff writer with New York Magazine. He started out at Flatbush Life and also worked at the Village Voice. He was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for commentary in 2002 for his columns on 9/11. He is the author of a novel Under Ground, based on the early life of the genius cop who went on to singlehandedly transform the City of New York. He is also the author of The Book of Mychal, a biography of Father Mychal Judge, the FDNY chaplain who perished at the World Trade Center. Topsy is his third book. He is a graduate of Yale University. He has long resided in Brooklyn, just beyond Ocean Parkway from where Topsy met her end.
