In this special episode of CUNY TV Presents, we spotlight the Maysles Documentary Center—Harlem’s premier documentary film and education hub founded by Albert Maysles. Now celebrating 20 years, Maysles continues to amplify under-represented voices and empower young filmmakers, reflecting CUNY TV’s own commitment to showcasing and uplifting diverse New York City storytellers.
We sit down with Kazembe Balagun, Executive Director of the Maysles Documentary Center, and Nasri Zacharia, Education Program Coordinator and Instructor for the Vanguard DocMakers Program. Today, we’ll meet four talented young filmmakers who will share insights into their films and creative journeys: Briana Moncayo Campoverde, Maegan Hollins, Fatou Seck, and Soul Verdugo

City College MFA Films | CUNY TV Presents
In this special episode of CUNY TV Presents: City College MFA Films, hosts Antonio Tibaldi and Andrea Weiss—co-directors of the MFA Film Program at CCNY—introduce a group of accomplished alumni whose work reflects the depth and diversity of independent cinema.
Featuring filmmakers Melisande Bliss, Nyeem Greenwood, Susan Mei and Vivian Rivas, the episode highlights a range of films that take creative risks and tell deeply personal stories. These graduates are putting the skills they developed in the MFA program into practice as they continue to grow as filmmakers.
This conversation is followed by a curated selection of films airing on CUNY TV and streaming on YouTube.
