In October, the Museum of Korean American Heritage unveiled the first comfort woman statue in New York City. This statue honors the thousands of Korean women whom the Imperial Japanese Army forced into sexual slavery during World War II. Now, a group of New Jersey high school students is trying to get a comfort woman memorial established to honor these women but the students quickly faced dissension, red tape, and learned a valuable political lesson. Reporter Minnie Roh provides an in-depth look at this painful chapter in history, and how New Jersey students are trying to raise awareness.
