A Mexican performance artist, poet, journalist, and activist, Gómez-Pena has been working since the early 1980s to draw awareness to the border between the United States and Mexico, not only as a physical barrier but as an idea. Gomez-Pena performs at the Corcoran Gallery, across from the White House in Washington, D.C., the week before the 1996 Presidential election.
