(1986/Czechoslovakia, 91 min., color, drama) Cast: Karel Hermanek, Rudolf Hrusinsky, Jiri Krampol, Lubor Tokos. The 1930s and '40s through the eyes of the Popper family. The father is a successful vacuum cleaner salesman and an enthusiastic admirer of the nature that surrounds the Berounka River, where he enjoys fishing. Kachyna's historical meditation interweaves several of Ota Pavel's autobio-graphical stories and peaks with the tragic fate of a Czech-Jewish family during the German occupation.
