“Lincoln and New York” is the subject of a fascinating and highly praised exhibit at the New-York Historical Society. The curator of this exhibit, noted Lincoln scholar Harold Holzer, joins Doug in this episode. The exhibit marvelously traces the evolution of Lincoln's relationship with the country's largest, wealthiest and most electorally powerful state. Holzer has also published a new Lincoln book, his 23rd, “Lincoln President-Elect: Abraham Lincoln and the Great Secession Winter, 1860-1861,” which has gotten very favorable reviews. Holzer's work has been honored with awards and he sits on a number of historical advisory boards. He currently serves as the co-chairman of the U.S. Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission.
