First aired: January 3, 2022.The 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26), which wrapped up recently in Glasgow, Scotland, brought together vested interests from around the globe to discuss intensifying efforts to fight climate change. Organized labor was in attendance to make clear the necessary and urgent steps labor must take in response to the climate crisis. On this episode of City Works, host Laura Flanders speaks with the director of CUNY SLU’s International Program for Labor, Climate and Environment, Sean Sweeney, who attended the conference and has worked with labor on strategies for a transition to sustainable, democratically controlled energy production.
