CUNY TV - Taking Back the Block: Stories of Community Renaissance

Episode Details
Taking Back the Block: Stories of Community Renaissance shares the personal stories of ordinary people as they recall their experiences living in vibrant New York City communities, from the 1950s to today.
Residents fondly remember the great days of their youth, growing up in safe and prosperous communities; the sadness when crime and abandonment took hold; and lastly, the joy today at seeing their old
neighborhoods return once more as places of hope, reborn for another generation of urban families.
Taking Back the Block: Stories of Community Renaissance presents the life stories of people who lived through it all, with perspective provided by three leading chroniclers of New York City history: Ron
Shiffman, Director Emeritus of the Pratt Center; Lloyd Ultan, Bronx Borough historian; and Michael Lappin, President of the Community Preservation Corporation.
