Suspicion falls on Jimmy Bannerman, from the local boxing club - a talented fighter. Commander Clare Blake and DCI Doug James (Mark Lewis Jones) are polarised by this boxing protege, the brutal competitiveness of the amateur boxing world resonating with Doug's own youth. Following a vicious attack on a fellow detective, Blake and Doug are forced to put aside their differences and find the killer before he strikes again and more violence erupts on this already troubled estate.
