Former German Olympic fencing champion Thomas Bach was elected President of the International Olympic Committee in September 2013. The upcoming Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro will be Bach's first as IOC chief. The Olympics help promote international understanding -- and they're the world's biggest and most expensive sports event. But is Bach the right man to lead the IOC?

Since his election, Bach has travelled the world to promote his "Agenda 2020” Olympic reform program. This includes revising the bidding process, supporting sports programs for young people, making the IOC more transparent, promoting more women to top IOC positions, and developing an independent Olympics media channel. Bach aims to make the IOC fit for the future, and to make the Games more attractive in general. In recent years, several cities and regions have turned down a chance to host the Olympics. 

Journalist Henning Rütten travelled with Bach across three continents. In this documentary, Rütten shows how the IOC operates on a day-to-day basis. He also asks an important question: will Bach actually be able to reform the committee? Rütten's report features interviews with IOC members, other journalists, Bach's associates -- and, of course, the IOC Chairman himself
