This edition: Alisa Del Tufo, dir., Family Violence Project
TweetEpisode Details
Original tape date: January 31, 2006.One of the few people in the last twenty-five years to work for policies, services, hot lines, and legal aid for abused women and children in New York City, Alisa Del Tufo explains the link between violence against children and violence against women. She reinforces everyone's need to get involved, understand and cooperate in order to end the violence. Ms. Del Tufo gets us to see abuse as an integrated set of problems in the family, not isolated incidents that may or may not reoccur. As the founder of Sanctuary For Families, Ms. Tufo says that there is a real collaboration growing between child welfare and family violence groups, although about a third of the women seeking public help are turned away for lack of resources.
