A lawyer for the ACLU, Ms. Goodman discusses the way The Patriot Act has affected our lives without our knowledge, citing the provision that when information is obtained, the informant is put under a gag order. Although under two gag orders herself, she expresses her frustration with how these gags have created an unbalanced debate in Congress leading to the reauthorization of The Patriot Act. Ms. Goodman discusses some other parts of The Patriot Act being challenged by the ACLU, including the Ideological Exclusion Provision, Extraordinary Rendition, and the NSA's unwarranted surveillance authorized by President Bush. She makes a plea to the media to be more aggressive about reporting the troubling policies that challenge civil liberties.
