TweetEpisode Details
Original tape date: February 8, 2011.Sometimes history books can be dense and academic, but not those written by “The New York Times” columnist Gail Collins. In her latest book, “When Everything Changed: The Amazing Journey of American Women from 1960 to the Present,” she explains how we went from June Cleaver -- the mother of the household on “Leave it to Beaver” -- to Nancy Pelosi -- the Speaker of the House of Representatives. With her earlier book, “America's Women: 400 Years of Dolls, Drudges, Helpmates, and Heroines,” Ms. Collins has completed an amazing -- as well as entertaining -- social history of American women.
