Elizabeth Nunez, in her novel "Now Lila Knows," describes events close to her own experiences as a young Caribbean, recruited to attend an all-white populated school, in the United States. Citing her book as a most difficult one to write, Nunez describes the Caribbean immigrant's lack of information and understanding of America's "color-based" racism and Jamaica's "class-based" racism.
