Ranked Choice Voting (RCV), a relatively new way for New Yorkers to vote in municipal elections is outlined and discussed. RCV is “different and it’s complicated,” and important in anticipation of the June 2025, Primary Election, to select a candidate for mayor. Instead of voting for one candidate, RCV lets the voter RANK 5 candidates, in order of preference, does away with re-run elections and lets people vote their conscience.
