Sarah Pizon speaks with Bobbie Sackman from the Council of Senior Centers and Services and Christian Gonzalez-Rivera of the Center for Urban Future, about how the city is dealing with its growing immigrant elderly population at a time when budgets are tying the hands of many organizations. We focus on “BombaYo” a Bronx-based organization that’s teaching a folkloric form of Puerto Rican dance and music to both young and old. Abi Ishola speaks to Karen Bassuk and Marjorie Sautner of the Visiting Nurse Service of New York about their Rockaway Wellness Partnership program.Then we highlight the city’s Senior Splash program geared towards getting seniors to socialize and remain physically active.
