Addabbo Jr. A NY City Councilman for the last 8 years, Senator Addabbo was recently elected to his first term in Albany, representing the 15th Senatorial District, which encompasses much of Queens County in New York City. Dean Anthony J. Tamburri met with Senator Addabbo at the Calandra Italian American Institute in MidTown Manhattan for this interview.
B.) NY City Councilmen Tony Avella and Vincent Gentile are joined by Italian Consul General Francesco Maria Talo, on the steps of historic New York City Hall, calling out for aid and assistance to the victims of the recent earthquake in L'Aquila, Italy. NIAF's NY Reginal Rep Michael Zampardi, brings the audience an update and addresses to send donations for the L'Aquila Earthquakr relief Effort. ITALICS Correspondent Lucia Grillo reports from City Hall.
C.) A Rememberance on the passing of the Late New York State Senator Emeritus John J. Marchi, who died on April 25th, 2009. Dean AJ Tamburri is joined by Professor Doug Muzzio, School of Political Science at Baruch College/CUNY and Host of CITY TALK on CUNY-TV, in remembering the career of one of the nation's longest ever serving State Senators, and the longest ever serving Italian American elected official in the history of the United States. From almost single handedly taking the city and nation's "largest garbage dump" and making Staten Island an equal borough and player in NY City politics to ensuring that New York City stay firm during its period of economic recovery in the 70's, The Late Senator Marchi's influence is felt not only locally, but throughout the State, Nation and even Internationally, especially in Italy.
D.) ITALICS News Briefs/ Dr. Vincenzo Milione of the Calandra Institute is honored for Lifetime Achievement by The Italian American Educators Association during their 11th Annual Educators Awards and Scholarship Celebrations. The IAEA Celebration was held at Chateau Briand Caterers in Westbury, New York.
