We’ll stop in Albany for the New York Conference of Italian American State Legislators’ Italian American Day honoring actress Annabella Sciorra and play bocce at the Festa Italiana in Troy. ITALICS pays tribute to actor James Gandolfini and Prof. Giuseppe Di Scipio, significant members of the Italian American community.
New York, June 26th, 2013 - ITALICS, The Italian American Magazine, hosted by Cav. Anthony J. Tamburri, Dean of The Calandra Institute, premieres on Wednesday, June 26th, 2013 at 10am, 3pm & 11pm. ITALICS can also be seen on Saturday, June 29tt at 8pm, & Sunday, June 30th at 10am on CUNY-TV, Ch.75 and RCN, Ch.77 in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, & The Bronx.
First, on this month’s episode of ITALICS, we’ll have a conversation with actor Max Casella, at the Calandra Institute. With a slew of new releases due out this year, including a role in Woody Allen’s “Blue Jasmine” – slated for cinemas in July and already garnering Oscar buzz – ITALICS host, Anthony Julian Tamburri talks to Max about his roots, discovering his Italian-ness, and his lifelong career on stage and screen, rich with an eclectic range of characters.
Next, we’ll join ITALICS correspondent, Lucia Grillo, at various venues around town for In Scena! Italian Theatre Festival – an official part of the year of Italy in the United States.
We will take a glimpse at some of the performances and Lucia Grillo goes behind the scenes to talk with festival participants and distinguished guests.
We’ll go back to the Calandra Institute for more of In Scena! Italian Theatre Festival, with performances and a panel: “Traveling Theatre, Traveling Languages,” exploring theatre in translation.
Then, in ITALICS NEWS, we’ll go to Albany, where actress Annabella Sciorra is honored by the New York Conference of Italian American Legislators on occasion of Italian American Day.
In mourning with the Italian American and wider community, ITALICS pays tribute to actor James Gandolfini and to Professor Giuseppe Di Scipio of Hunter College.
