Tomie, as the legendary author is known to fans, chats with Lucia Grillo at BAM – Brooklyn Academy of Music. Italian documentarian and critic, founder of Roma Cinema Fest, Mario Sesti, in New York for the Museum of Modern Art’s two retrospectives on Italian cinema – “Antonio Pietrangeli: a Retrospective,” and “Italian Film, 21st-Century Style: a Tribute to RAI Cinema” – talks to Lucia Grillo about the representation of women and exposé of misogyny in Pietrangeli’s films as well as the female protagonists and portrayal of domestic violence in Matteo Garrone’s “Tale of Tales.” ITALICS continues its “investigation” of the “new Italian Americans” – the surge of young professional Italians moving to New York City – in an interview with Alessandro Parrello: actor, producer, and founder of West 46th Magazine. We’ll leave you with a montage in the holiday spirit - people watching at Rockefeller Center and Bryant Park, and details from St. Patrick’s Cathedral’s presepe designed by Lucanian artist, Francesco Artese.
