En este episodio iniciamos en una de las partes más remotas de Brooklyn; visitamos East New York Farms, un oasis en medio de la metrópolis. Aquí, un grupo de adolescentes aprender a cultivar frutas y verduras que luego venden en su propio mercado local.
Después vamos a La Guardia Community College en Queens, a la Oficina de los Archivos Wagner donde se viene realizando el calendario Nación de Inmigrantes desde 1979. Una herramienta básica que, además de recordarnos los días de la semana, nos ayuda a saber mas en detalle la historia de los Estados Unidos. Con ediciones en varios idiomas, incluyendo en español, tiene además una versión electrónica en el Internet.
En Manhattan acompañamos a Patricio Lerzundi a John Jay College, donde conversará sobre la identidad cultural y las experiencias de la segunda generación de los inmigrantes latinos en los Estados Unidos con Suzanne Oboler, profesora del departamento de Estudios Latinoamericanos y fundadora de la prestigiosa revista académica "Latino Studies".
Y para finalizar, regresamos a Queens, a conocer a los ganadores del Grammy Latino 2007, estos singulares músicos considerados patrimonio musical de Colombia, viajan por el mundo llevando el sonido de un instrumento ancestral, La Gaita. Estuvieron en Nueva York, en una presentación exclusiva durante el Latino Cultural Festival de Queens Theatre in the Park.

We begin this show *in one of Brooklyn's most remote spots, where we visit East New York Farms, an oasis in the middle of the city.
Here, adolescents learn how to grow fruits and vegetables, which they sell at the local market.
Then we go La Guardia Community College in Queens, to the office of the Wagner Archives, where the Calendar “A Nation of Immigrants” has been published since 1979. Besides its basic function of reminding us of the days of the week, it helps us understand U.S. history in greater detail, with editions in various languages, including Spanish. And there's also an online version.
In Manhattan, we accompany Patricio Lerzundi to John Jay College, where he discusses the cultural identity and experiences of the second generation of Latino immigrants in the U.S. with Suzanne Oboler, professor of Latin American Studies and founder of the prestigious journal "Latino Studies."
And, finally,we go back to Queens, to meet the winners of the 2007 Latin Grammys, Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto. These unique musicians, considered a Colombian cultural treasure, travel the world bringing us the sound of an ancient instrument, the gaita. They made an exclusive appearance in New York during the Latino Cultural Festival at Queen's Theater in the Park.
