Bienvenidos a NUEVA YORK, programa dedicado al público hispanoparlante, celebrando su diversidad y contribuciones a la vida de esta ciudad.
En este episodio iniciamos en Queens Theater in the Park, presentado La Bachata Roja, es en este proyecto musical que encontramos lo más clásico y puro de éste género, con leyendas tales como Isidro Cabrera “el chivo sin ley”, y Ramón Cordero, además del joven bachatero Joan “el duque” Soriano.
Después vamos al East Harlem, para que Carmen Delgado nos comparta su experiencia en el proceso de naturalizarse como estadounidense y al fin lograr ejercer su tan deseado derecho al voto.
En el Graduate Center de CUNY, Midtown Mahattan, David Brooks, periodista y corresponsal del diario mexicano La Jornada, charla con Patricio Lerzundi sobre el impacto de la victora electoral de Barak Obama en la comunidad latina.
Y finalmente en el Latino Cultural Festival de Queens, encontramos al reconocido cantautor uruguayo Rubén Rada, quien ha fusionado ritmos afro-uruguayos, como el candombe y la murga con el jazz y el rock.

This episode begins at Queens Theatre in the Park, with Bachata Roja. This musical project is the purest and most classical form of its genre, with legends like Isidro Cabrera "el chivo sin ley" and Ramón Cordero. And also the young bachata singer Joan "El duque" Soriano.
Then we go to East Harlem, where Carmen Delgado shares with us her experience of becoming a U.S. citizen and finally achieving the right to vote.
At the CUNY Graduate Center in Midtown Manhattan, David Brooks, journalist and correspondent for the Mexican daily "La Jornada," chats with Patricio Lerzundi about the impact of Barack Obama's election on the Latino community.
And, finally, at the Queens' Latino Cultural Festival, we meet with the renowned Uruguayan singer-songwriter Rubén Rada, who has fused Afro-Uruguayan beats like [candombe] and [murga] with jazz and rock.
