Comenzamos nuestra ruta en Brooklyn, para conocer las historias con sabor a huaraches, pupusas y cocina casera de los vendedores de comida que cada fin de semana se dan cita en el parque de Red Hook desde hace más de treinta años.
Sin salir de Brooklyn, Carmen Boullosa recibe en su casa al chef mexicano Roberto Santibañez. Graduado con honores en la prestigiosa escuela “Cordon Blue” de Francia, Santibañez posee una larga trayectoria que incluye la escritura de libros y artículos en prestigiosas revistas culinarias.
Y finalizamos en Corona Ave, en el corazón de Queens, para saborear el lado más glamoroso y sofisticado de las empanadas en Empanadas Café. Un punto obligado para los amantes de este popular plato, donde encontramos más de 30 variedades y donde se experimenta con todo tipo de ingredientes.

We dedicate this episode to Latin American gastronomy in a trip around the traditional and innovative dishes that are prepared in our city.
We start off in Brooklyn, with a taste of “huaraches”, “pupusas”, and popular meals from the food vendors that have been in Red Hook Park every weekend for over 30 years.
Still in Brooklyn, Carmen Boullosa meets Mexican chef Roberto Santibañez. Graduated with honors from the famous Cordon Bleu school in France, Santibañez has a long track record, which includes writing books and articles for prestigious culinary magazines.
And we end up on Corona Avenue, in the heart of Queens, to savor the most glamorous and sophisticated side of empanadas at Empanadas Cafe, an obligatory visit for those who love this popular meal, where we can find over 30 varieties, and where they experiment with all kinds of ingredients.
