First aired: July 11, 2019.We kick off this episode in Midtown, where, during the Havana Film Festival in New York, the Cuban Carlos Acosta shares with us his incredible and inspiring story, from his childhood break dancing in a poor neighborhood in Havana to becoming the firstblack dancer that played Romeo in the prestigious London's Royal Ballet. Then we go to Morningside, Manhattan, where we interview Puerto Rican photographer Máximo Rafael Colón. In his works we found themes like justice and social activism. Finally, we goto Bushwick, Brooklyn, where we speak with Julieta Méndez, leader of the band Frida's Revenge. Julieta tells us about her connection with the Zapotec indigenous community and the connection between her people in Oaxaca, Mexico and Los Angeles, where more than half of the people in her town live nowadays.
Iniciamos este episodio en Midtown, donde durante el Havana Film Festival de NY el cubano Carlos Acosta nos comparte su increíble e inspiradora historia; desde su infancia bailando break en las calles de un barrio pobre de La Habana hasta convertirse en el primer bailarín negro en interpretar Romeo en el prestigioso Royal Ballet de Londres. También de su papel de coreógrafo y fundador de Acosta Danza y ser el nuevo director artístico del Birmingham Ballet. Luego vamos a Morning Side Manhattan, donde entrevistamos al gran fotógrafo boricua Máximo Rafael Colón.
