This edition: Sara Horowitz, Founder & Executive Director, Freelancers Union
TweetEpisode Details
Original tape date: February 4, 2008.Sara Horowitz joins Sheryl in this episode. Ms. Horowitz was a public defender and a traditional union organizer before she formed her own union, one that more and more New Yorkers are relying on. The Freelancers Union serves the needs of independent workers---the freelancers, consultants, independent contractors, temps, part-timers, contingent employees and self-employed people who now comprise more than 30 percent of the nation's workforce. While politicians parse the merits of several health care plans, for many New Yorkers the discussion is irrelevant because health insurance has been out of their reach. Enter Sara Horowitz!
