She's been at the 25 year old organization since 1998, after serving as Manhattan Borough President and long-time New York City Council member. She has been an advocate and activist since her student days; with a masters in social work in hand, she ran a child welfare agency in Oklahoma. Her mandate is now global, taking her from Darfur to Haiti to Sudan and everywhere in between. There is no end to the need.
