Original tape date: January 19, 2011.It’s been 60 years since the spectrum of disorders known as Autism was initially described and noted by psychiatrists Even today, there’s no consensus on what it is or what causes it. If anything, there are more questions, more theories, more contentions, more blame and more guilt. Dr. Cecelia McCarton is a nationally known pediatrician and researcher, who specializes in diagnosing and treating children with developmental disorders through her Center for Developmental Pediatrics. The school division serves children with autism and autistic spectrum disorders. And her foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of those children and their families.
