Original tape date: May 23, 2011.Host Sheryl McCarthy sits down with author Jennet Conant as they discuss her new book, “Covert Affair” which depicts the experiences of the famous Julia Child during World War II when she was an agent with the U.S. Office of Strategic Services as well as how she and her former OSS colleagues, including her husband Paul Child, were affected by the Communist witch hunt that took place after the war. They discuss what motivated Ms. Conant to write this book, her views on Julia Child and the service she provided for her country during this time as well as her depiction of the OSS in the book.
