Original tape date: November 29, 2017. First aired: December 11, 2017.The world’s multiracial population is considered to be one of the fastest growing of all ethnic groups. In the United States, it’s estimated that by the year 2050, more than 20% of the population will be considered “mixed race.”
In her new book, Multiracial Parents: Mixed Families, Generational Change and the Future of Race, author Miri Song considers how mixed-race parents identify their children, raise them, and how they view their children’s futures in a society that is becoming more and more racially diverse.
Song is a Professor of Sociology at the University of Kent in England, and a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the CUNY Graduate Center’s Advanced Research Collaborative.
