Why are dogs so beloved by New Yorkers, what are their lives like here, and what role do they play in the life of the city?
Ken Foster, director of the community outreach program in the Bronx for the Animal Care Centers of New York City, visited scores of dogs and their owners in all five boroughs, and answers those questions in his book “City of Dogs,” published by Avery, an imprint of Penguin Random House.
Along with photographer Traer Scott, he reveals the multifaceted relationships New Yorkers have with their dogs in moving stories and candid images.
