When we think of Georgetown University and the Catholic faith, and Jesuit priests, we don’t usually think of the slave trade - the buying and selling of black men, women and children in America. But that’s what Rachel Swarns confronts us with in a big page-one story in the Sunday New York Times. Georgetown and other American universities were deeply involved in the slave trade, and Ms. Swarns, a columnist with the Times, joins Bob Herbert to closely examine this issue.
