What happens if a president is unable, physically or mentally, to perform the duties of the office? Can he or she be temporarily sidelined, or removed from office entirely? Who could determine that a president is so seriously impaired that such drastic steps need to be taken. Has anything like that happened before? Bob Herbert finds out answers to these questions and more as he talks with an expert on such matters. Guest John Feerick is a professor and former dean at Fordham Law School. He assisted in drafting the 25th Amendment to the Constitution, which provides the guidelines for presidential succession in cases of death, illness, mental impairment, impeachment, resignation or other matters that might arise.
