This edition: David Margolick on "Elizabeth and Hazel"
TweetEpisode Details
Original tape date: October 11, 2018. First aired: November 5, 2018.One of the most truly iconic photos from 20th century America – and one of the most disturbing – is one of a young black girl, frighteningly alone, being screamed at by a hateful-looking white girl who was part of a racist mob in Little Rock, Arkansas, back in 1957. The black girl in the photo is Elizabeth Eckford, and the white girl is Hazel Bryan. Bob is joined by David Margolick, author of the book “Elizabeth and Hazel,” that traces the lives of these two women and the remarkable and emotional ways in which they have interacted over the decades.
