This edition: From Climate Anxiety to Collective Action

Episode Details

Original tape date: April 13, 2026. First aired: May 28, 2026.

Climate anxiety is real because climate change impacts our daily lives, sense of safety and feelings about the future - but we can move forward with hope. This Mental Health Awareness Month, Sustainability Matters unpacks the rising tide of “climate anxiety” and the real human impacts of the climate crisis. In this episode, Host Tria Case is joined by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Nicole Betancourt, whose film “The Unfixing” explores the connectedness of our bodies to an ailing planet. New York City Environmental Justice Alliance Deputy Director Eunice Ko and Climate and Disability Justice Activist, Daphne Frias round out the conversation, as we explore how storytelling, culture, and collective action can help us navigate the challenges of the climate crisis while also making space for resilience and joy. A Green to Go Segment at the end of the show offers a guided meditation in Central Park - led by our show's Senior Editor Gisela Sanders-Alcantara - that you can try at home.
