Mike Gilliam interviews Dr. Steven Safyer, President and CEO of Montefiore Medical Center, ranked one of the best hospitals in the U.S. for 2013 by US News & World Report, about the role of marketing in attracting quality staff and serving the hospital’s diverse multi-ethnic community in the Bronx.
CUNY TV correspondent Melissa Noel examines the billion-dollar business of the marketing of prescription drugs, and reports how the Physician Payments Sunshine Act (part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act) will increase transparency about the relationship between health care providers and drug manufacturers.
The half-hour concludes with a report on medical and surgical tourism, featuring interviews by Mike Gilliam with patients who traveled to Costa Rica for care they could not get in the United States.
