This edition: Columbia University Protest of 1968

Episode Details

Original tape date: April 9, 2018. First aired: April 25, 2018.

1968 was a year of anger, violence, and protests that shook the very foundation of this nation. On a more local level, Columbia University had its campus taken over by students protesting on-campus recruitment for the Vietnam War, a new gymnasium that was proposed to be built in Morningside Park, and more.

Tony was fortunate enough to sit down with two of those protesters who supported the takeover - Phillip Lopate, a leader of alumni, and Raymond Brown, a leader among black students who took over Hamilton Hall. They shared their perspectives with him.
